Conductor

The SSO is pleased to announce the appointment of their new conductor, Pippa Williams.

Pippa Williams obtained her degree in music from the University of Toronto where she studied oboe with Richard Dorsey and Melvin Berman and piano with William Aide and Andrew Markow. She is a busy professional musician, playing Principal oboe with the Vancouver Island Symphony and teaching piano and oboe at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music.

Pippa is also very active as a chamber musician playing oboe with the Wayfaring Winds and piano with the Blackberry Island Trio and has enjoyed touring North America and Europe with other ensembles.Pippa is a highly sought after adjudicator and clinician and enjoys an active studio teaching both oboe and piano.

She is looking forward to her first season as Music Director for the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra.
